METRO’s Local service one-way full fare is $1, including transfer to other Local service. Your options of payment include cash, tokens and a variety of passes. With an authorized METRO ID, discounts may apply.

Transfers are free with a paid fare if used on equal or lesser cost service and are good for three hours from the time of purchase and can not be used for return trips. They must be obtained at the time the fare is paid. If transferring to a higher cost service, the full fare should be paid on the first bus.

A Day Pass may be a better value than a transfer if you have more than one round trip to make that day. It costs $2 and is good for 24 hours of unlimited rides on Local service only. Day Passes are purchased on the bus as you board.

How to read the bus schedules
Passenger "Do's and Dont's"
How to signal when you're ready to get off
and all kinds of links to more bus information!

The downtown Greyhound Bus Station is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! It's located on the south side of downtown right next to the McDonald's. There are Metro Bus stops all over the place and taxi cabs await you at every turn.

The bus station is located within a few blocks walk of a couple of good bars with great beer selections, like The Front Porch Pub on West Gray.
Also, inside the downtown area, there are probably 20 good clubs and bars to visit. During the mid-day hours, there's a free Trolley system that will take you almost anywhere downtown or you can catch a cab for under $10.00 to any place in the Montrose!

Additional Houston Greyhound locations can be found at the Greyhound website

The Amtrak station is located right on the west edge of Downtown on Washington Street in a pretty isolated place, right under Interstate 45. Most Native Houstonians don't even know where it is! You're not likely to find any taxi cabs waiting outside but you can call one from the station when you get in. The train station is right on the Metro Bus line so you should be able to find a bus into downtown most anytime. Once you get downtown, you can transfer to another bus that will take you anywhere in the city.
If you're looking for a place to grab a drink, I'd suggest take a bus going east on Washington. Once you get to Waugh or Shepherd, you're close to some really cool clubs like Mary Jane's or The Social. If you feel like walking into downtown, you'll find a pretty large number of bars and clubs not too far away, about 4 or 5 blocks, as most of the downtown club scene is situated around the northwest part of downtown anyway.
